Tiny Lights

A tiny light burns in the night. A nurse who's returned home after a 24-hour shift. A woman studying into the wee hours of the night. A girl binging on a show. A man binging on the same show, another playing Fortnite. Yet another who left the light on. A mother putting a weening baby to sleep. Another who's writing. A boy showering after his double shift before he's off to his classes in three hours. An elderly who had to wake up for a glass of water.

Each of us is connected by the dark of the night and the tiny lights that burn. Light and dark doesn't really differentiate anyone based on who they pray to, what colour their skin is, what ideologies they have. What matters is hard work and the grit to provide a roof over your head and the electricity needed for the tiny light to come on.

Why O, why then, do we confused ourselves otherwise?
